Surgery:
The team at River Basin Equine take pride in providing surgical services for the eastern Iowa horse
community. Routine and emergency surgical services are
performed under general gas anesthesia with ventilator and
monitoring equipment. After the surgical procedure, the horse is assisted, in a fully padded room during recovery and then taken to a climate controlled intensive care stall for continued observation and post operative care.

Lameness:
A lameness or unsoundness afflicts all horses at
some point. Our goal is to isolate the source of pain or lameness, then educate the owner about the lameness and
together formulate a treatment plan with the objective to make
the horse comfortable and sound again.

Medicine:
Medical cases commonly addressed at River Basin Equine include disorders with the respiratory system, eyes, wounds and lacerations, skin, neurological system, and gastrointestinal system. Our climate controlled intensive care stalls are in full view of staff, enabling us to provide attentive care to critically ill horses. Every spring the team at River
Basin is devoted to providing care for critically ill or
compromised newborn foals.

Our goal is simple: Obtain pregnant mares and
healthy foals. We tackle the challenge of subfertile mares
with providing breeding soundness examinations, uterine
biopsies, and cultures.
