Background: I was raised in Western Iowa, in the heart of the Loess Hills. At a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I attended Oklahoma State University, then transferred to Iowa State University, were I received my doctorate and met my wife. In veterinary school I developed a strong interest in equine medicine and surgery and was fortunate enough to obtain an internship at Texas A&M. After five years at an equine practice in Houston, Texas, my wife and I moved back to Iowa. Interests: I unwind by taking leisurely rides on my motorcycle, fall bird hunting with my dog Josie, and doing woodworking projects. I also enjoy being out on the water: canoeing, boating, water-skiing. Medical Emphasis: I enjoy all facets of equine practice but I have a strong interest in equine surgery, lameness and wounds. Background: I grew up on a farm in Eastern Iowa and exhibited horses as a youth. My passion for horses, and animals in general, lead me to obtain degrees in animal science and veterinary medicine at Iowa State University. Currently, I am breeding performance Quarter Horses. I have also taken an interest in sport horses, with the addition of a young Hanoverian mare. Our son, Wyatt, also enjoys horses and being a "cowboy". Interests: I like outdoor family activities: camping, canoeing, biking, and sledding. I also enjoy movies, cooking and antiques. Medical Emphasis: My primary medical emphasis is anesthesia, neonatal intensive care, nutrition and preventative health care.
